Movie productions - The dailies workflow

With KLASH, you can share dailies with your team by sending Share links for folders or subfolders. The recipients get a simplified studio and do not have to create an account or sign in. When onboarding your team, more powerful dailies features become available, and the only thing your users will need is one link to access everything and navigate between old and new projects.

The Film & TV series plan lets you onboard as many users as you like during 12 months for a fixed price. Read about KLASH Pricing.

Uploading dailies

You can upload dailies camera footage to the cloud with a camera connected to the internet and an FTP connector, through the KLASH Desktop App and Watch Folders, or drag and drop. Learn more about Uploading methods and Supported file formats and codecs.

Adding your metadata

Add metadata manually or import your metadata from an XML file from a tool like Silverstack. When importing metadata from an XML, metadata such as scene, shot, and take will be automatically added to your clips. Learn more about Labels and metadata.

Searching and navigating

You can pin metadata to projects to make searching and navigating easier for your project members. There are two settings: company-pinned and project-pinned metadata. Company-pinned metadata will pin selected search fields to your project, for example, dropdown menus for scene, shot, and take. Project-pinned metadata will pin metadata to the file icons in the project and as overlays in the player. Learn more about company- and project-pinned metadata in Labels and metadata.

Sharing links with external users

When sharing links to folders or subfolders with external users, the recipients get a simplified studio and do not have to create an account or sign in. You can protect the links with a password, email, and phone two-factor authentication, watermarking, time windows, and a limited number of views, as well as disabling commenting and downloading of files. Learn more about Sharing files, folders, and projects.

Onboarding your project members

Onboarding your project members to KLASH will give you the most powerful dailies features. The Digital Imaging Technician (DIT) can change statuses of files, move files through different production stages, and assign reviewers. Project members will be able to access different projects with nothing more than a link.

You can onboard your users by email directly to your project on KLASH. It's also possible to add users in bulk using an XML or Single Sign-On (SSO), and map users to specific user groups and projects. Learn more about Inviting project members and how to set up SSO for Enterprise.

To ensure an interface as clean as possible, suitable for viewing dailies, you can hide the commenting and annotation tool for the project members by setting the project members' role to Viewer. Learn more about Roles and permissions.

Note: If the project requires 2FA and the project members belong to the same organization, you can verify your company domain and enable SSO self-service. If the project members belong to different organizations, then the KLASH support will assist you in adding 2FA for the project members. Contact us.

Notifying the users of file uploads

With Share links, the recipients will be notified when you send the link by email. When onboarding your project members onto KLASH, enhanced notification settings will become available. You can change the status of files to notify selected project members of new files. Learn more about Statuses. You can also assign one or more people responsible for the final sign-off. Learn more about Assigned reviewers.

Note: Notifications are not sent automatically for new file uploads. The reason is that the DIT, who uploads the files, should have time to name, organize, and add any metadata to the files before notifying the project members. Also, there are productions where every project member should not be notified. Therefore, the DIT controls notifications for the dailies workflow on KLASH.

Supported browsers and devices

Supported browsers are Google Chrome, Edge, and Safari on macOS and Windows. The KLASH platform is desktop and mobile-adapted. You can use KLASH on any computer or mobile device, such as an Android or iOS device.
