Roles and permissions

The are two categories of roles and permissions on KLASH: team and project and company roles and permissions. Company roles and permissions only relate to the Enterprise plan.

Permissions are inherited from top to bottom: As a company admin you can manage all the company resources, as a team admin you can manage all the projects belonging to the team, and as a project admin you manage the resources belonging to that project, but not the team. As such, its possible to invite users to specific projects to restrict and grant access to material.

Company roles and permissions

There are two company roles on KLASH: Company Admin and Member. As a Company Admin, you can manage all the company resources including but not limited to subscription plans and payments, teams and projects belonging to your organization, and users. A Member is an ordinary member of the organisation. A Member cannot do anything until one of the Company Admins has assigned the user at least one team or project, with an associated role and permission.

Change the company role for a user by the following steps:

  1. Navigate to your workspace in the left side panel, and click Users.

  2. In the User overview, click Role and select Company Admin or Member.

Note: You need to be a Company Admin to change company roles.

Team and project roles and permissions

There are a few ways you can access content on KLASH, and not all require that you register a user account. As an Admin, Member, Member restricted or Viewer, you have to register a user account, while as a Share user you get a simplified studio and do not have to register an account or sign in.

Here is an overview of the roles and permissions:

  • Admin: Admins are at the top of the permissions hierarchy. They can manage teams, projects, company settings, invite users, and set roles and permissions.

  • Member: Members can upload and download files, comment, start sync timeline and real-time live streaming sessions.

  • Member restricted: Member restricted can do everything that a Member can, but cannot share files with external users.

  • Viewer: Viewers can only view assets.

  • Share user: Share users are the recipients of a share link. You get a simplified studio and do not have to register an account or sign in. The sender of the share link can decide what features should be available for you, and enable password or 2FA protection on the link. Learn more about Sharing links with external users.
