Labels and metadata

Labels and metadata can be used to help you organize files. You can filter and search on labels and metadata to find specific files in your projects, for example, Scene, Slate, and Take in movie production. Labels and metadata can be added manually, or imported from XML files.

Manually adding labels and metadata

Add labels and metadata manually by the following steps:

  1. Select your file. You can select multiple files by marking an area with the files, or holding down Command on Mac or Shift on Windows when selecting the files.

  2. To create a new label, write the name of the label and click enter. You can add metadata to the label, for example, label Date, and metadata today’s date.

Importing metadata from XML files

On KLASH, you have the option to import labels and metadata from an XML file. For example a Silverstack or Drylab XML.

Example XML format for importing your metadata into KLASH: Example_XML_KLASH.pdf.

Follow these steps to import your metadata into KLASH:

  1. Upload the XML file into the project where your files are located.

  2. Right-click on the XML file, and click Import as metadata. This will bring up a new window that shows all the files that got imported metadata.

  3. Close the window and select a file. Now you will see the imported metadata for that file in the Details panel.

Search and filter on labels and metadata

With the labels and metadata in place, you will be able to search and filter them:

  1. Navigate to the left side menu, and click Search.

  2. Click Filter, and then Labels or Metadata.
