Projects

In a project you can create folders, upload files, and organise your assets.

Projects also have their own set of access controls. A Project is always owned by either a Team or a User. If it’s owned by a Team, all members of that Team have access to the project, but you can also add external users. Project memberships have the same set of Roles as permissions for users, but scoped to the Project.

Note: Team Roles trumps Project Roles, so it doesn’t make sense to give a user the viewer role in a project, if that user has the Member Role in the team that owns the project.

Creating a project

Projects are in the very top of your file structure. It’s basically just a folder where your files and sub-folders will live.

You can create projects personally or within teams, depending on the subscription plan you are on. If you are on a Free, Pro or Team plan you can create personal projects and if you are on a Enterprise plan then you can only create projects within the company.

To create a project personally you can either go to the left side menu and click on ‘my projects’ then ‘new projects’.

Or you can click on Home > Create project, enter a project name, ignore the Team option, and click on ‘Create’.

To create a project within a team you can click on Home > Create project, enter a project name, select which team you want to create a project in and click on ‘Create’.

Or you can go to the left side menu and click on the team you want to add a project to then ‘new projects’.

Sharing a project

There are a couple of different options for giving other users access to your project. The default behaviour depends on your Plan:

  • Free, Team and Pro users can create private Projects. These are only accessible by the owner user.

  • Enterprise users can only create Team projects, i.e. there must first be a Team. Team projects are accessible to all members of the owner team.

You can invite other users and teams to your project. Project members are managed in the Members tab, next to the Project bin tab. Invite new members by searching for the User or Team and click the Invite button.

Questions and Answers

  • How do I create projects as an enterprise user?

If you are an enterprise user then you are a part of a company and cannot create personal projects. You need to be invited into teams to be able to create projects. If teams does not appear in the left side menu then you need to contact your administrator and ask them to invite you.
